Department Manager – Supermarket Store

About the role

SPAR Hosteland Nordbygda Sentre, part of NorgesGruppen's local supermarket chain, is looking for an engaged and proactive department manager. The store combines a full grocery department with a large special department including hardware, paint, yarn, fishing gear and gifts. The role is central to a busy, varied environment with high pace and fast changes.

Key responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for daily operations and campaign execution in the grocery department according to the chain's concept
• Staff rosters, staffing levels and follow-up of employees across the store; motivate and develop staff and train new hires
• Recruitment and training of new staff in line with the store's staffing strategy
• Staffing, sales and daily follow-up of the special and hardware department (the department manager has overall responsibility for ordering in this area)
• Ordering goods, loss control and campaign execution in the grocery department via the NG system, and achieving budget and results for the grocery business
• Follow up on sales, gross profit and key figures, and create the best local shopping experience
• Close cooperation with the store manager

Required profile

• Advantageous: relevant management experience with people responsibility
• Good understanding of economics and knowledge of the grocery industry; experience with hardware or similar product ranges is an advantage
• High focus on service, good planning and control of staffing
• Knowledge of NG systems or similar store systems is an advantage
• Good Norwegian, written and spoken
