Lead Software Engineer – Java

About the role

Are you an experienced software engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and helping others build better solutions? As a Lead Software Engineer you will design, build, and operate secure, scalable, and resilient technology that supports critical payment services for Mastercard. You will combine hands‑on development with technical leadership across product, operations, architecture and risk teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, integrate and improve secure, scalable applications and services.
• Take ownership of complex service issues and coordinate resolution across teams.
• Work with product partners on priorities, trade‑offs and technical roadmaps.
• Improve delivery quality through automation, code reviews, testing and standard engineering practices.
• Use incident learnings to strengthen stability, resilience and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Strong experience designing, developing, integrating, testing and maintaining production software systems.
• Good understanding of architecture patterns, system design, performance, resilience and maintainability.
• Experience with secure coding, code quality, code reviews, troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis.
• Practical knowledge of automation, DevOps toolchains, cloud‑native patterns and service integration.
