Senior Power Electronics Engineer

About the role

Pixii is looking for a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to design and develop advanced power electronic converters for grid‑scale battery energy storage systems. The role is based in Drammen, Norway and works within the Power Conversion & Control team, reporting to the Director of Power Conversion & Control.

Key responsibilities

• Design, simulate, optimise and test power electronic converters and subsystems.
• Support Lead Electrical Engineers with detailed hardware design, component selection and technical analysis.
• Perform loss calculations, efficiency optimisation, thermal design and EMI/EMC measurement and mitigation.
• Develop and maintain automated test setups, conduct prototype bring‑up and root‑cause analysis.
• Participate in schematic design, PCB layout reviews and component qualification for industrialisation.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics with at least 5 years of R&D experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, able to work independently on complex technical tasks.
• Hands‑on engineering mindset with a commitment to high‑quality documentation.
• Collaborative attitude and curiosity about emerging power‑electronics technologies.

Required skills

• Power semiconductor design, magnetics, thermal design, EMI/EMC.
• Efficiency optimisation and loss calculation.
• Simulation tools such as Matlab/Simulink, PLECS, PSIM or SPICE.
• Laboratory testing and automated test development using Python, LabVIEW or TestStand.
• Experience with grid‑connected converters, battery energy storage and SiC‑based technologies.
