Six-Month Freelance Political Reporter (Society Department)

About the role

VG is looking for a journalist with a broad network of sources and a proven track record of setting the agenda for a six-month freelance assignment in the society department, ending on 15 May. The assignment belongs to the political reporting group. It is a central role in Norway's leading newsroom, within a strong professional environment with high ambitions.

Key responsibilities

• Follow up current news coverage and write your own reporting on politics
• Cover breaking news on the breaking desk, using both breaking-news methods and longer journalistic projects
• Work independently across platforms; being able to deliver text, photos, video and audio is a big advantage
• Use AI creatively in your work and stay open to change
• Travel in connection with news events and reports; the work involves shift work

Required profile

• Ability to handle the toughest stories and extract the biggest news
• Strong ethical awareness and creative journalistic methods
• Motivation to follow Norwegian society closely and win the news battle, even outside normal working hours
• Proven ability to set the agenda
