Associate Staff Hardware Engineer - HW Tools IoT

About the role

Silicon Labs is looking for a senior or staff hardware engineer with a background in embedded systems design to join its Hardware Tools team, which is partly based in Oslo, Norway. The team delivers development tools for Silicon Labs' wireless devices and microcontrollers, covering everything from design specification to following up the contract manufacturer, and designs its own hardware infrastructure for circuit board production tests.

Key responsibilities

• Hardware development from architecture through schematic capture, PCB design and prototype validation in the lab
• Embedded system design and architecture
• Board design, including schematics and layout
• Prototype test and design validation
• Design for manufacturing
• Development of automated test systems
• Documentation

Required profile

• MS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) and 5+ years of professional experience in electronics design; an advanced degree or extensive relevant experience may reduce the minimum requirement
• Deep knowledge of all phases of electronic circuit design, including manufacturing and production testing
• Experience with low-power design techniques
• Interest in development processes and in embedded software, or willingness to learn about the hardware/firmware/software interaction

Required skills

• Knowledge of microcontrollers, wireless microcontrollers and FPGAs
• Proficiency with schematic capture tools
• Experience with automation and scripting
• Analytical, methodical and thorough approach with good written and oral communication

Advantages: Altium Designer, C and Python, and a team player attitude. The annualized base pay range is NOK 699,650 to NOK 1,299,350, with possible bonus, equity and benefits.
