Principal Software Engineer – Application Networking

About the role

Elastic is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the Application Networking area of its Platform Infrastructure. The role will define the future of Elastic Cloud networking, covering ingress, security controls, private connectivity and DNS.

Key responsibilities

• Set technical direction and own designs for major application networking initiatives from proposal to general availability.
• Lead development and scaling of ingress, private connectivity, DNS and security controls for Elastic Cloud.
• Drive multi‑quarter, cross‑team projects and ensure delivery to other engineering teams.
• Raise operational quality, lead incident investigations and participate in on‑call rotation.
• Mentor engineers, act as subject‑matter expert and advise product and senior engineering stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing high‑performance, scalable networking platforms at staff or principal level.
• Deep expertise in application networking and cloud‑native architecture, including large‑scale distributed systems.
• Hands‑on experience operating high‑availability SaaS platforms and improving reliability.
• Ability to own end‑to‑end projects, guide multiple engineers and collaborate across functions.
• Strong autonomous work style with clear communication in distributed teams.
