Ships Agency Operator

About the role

Wilhelmsen Port Services Norway is seeking a Ships Agency Operator for its Porsgrunn office. The role involves managing vessel port calls, ensuring compliance with processes, and providing timely communication with customers and authorities. You will work within a hybrid model, collaborating with a team of six operators on a rotating on‑call schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Attend and board vessels as required, following company and customer requirements.
• Coordinate assigned port calls efficiently.
• Advise on selection of contractors and handle competitive quotations.
• Ensure correct use of the WASP operating system and compliance with standards.
• Monitor vessel status, respond to enquiries, and maintain proactive communication.
• Report business opportunities and port updates to the manager.
• Track and record expenses incurred during port calls.
• Contribute ideas to improve operational and cost efficiency.
• Participate in the on‑call rotation covering weekdays and weekends.

Required profile

• Good communication skills in English and a Scandinavian language.
• Maritime background or relevant education preferred.
• Strong process and system understanding.
• Self‑motivated, result‑oriented and able to work under pressure.
• Quick problem‑solving ability and sound judgment.
• Familiarity with port and local authority regulations and tariffs.
• Computer literate with a valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the WASP operating system.
