Specialist Cell Biologist for Cell Feed

About the role

Join Nutreco’s Cell Feed initiative in Stavanger to develop sustainable cell culture media for the cultivated protein industry. This long‑term temporary position is based at the Skretting Bubble research centre and involves hands‑on work in a small, entrepreneurial biotech team.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, maintain, and apply 2D and 3D cell culture models, including stem cells.
• Develop and optimise custom cell culture media for various cell types and test premixes and functional ingredients.
• Plan, conduct, and interpret cell nutrition research, generating high‑quality data for project stakeholders.
• Maintain and improve laboratory routines, equipment, consumables, and documentation.
• Collaborate with internal multidisciplinary teams and external industry partners, presenting results to technical and non‑technical audiences.

Required profile

• MSc or PhD in Biomedicine, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or related field.
• Extensive hands‑on experience with mammalian cell culture (2D, 3D, stem cells) and aseptic techniques.
• Strong scientific mindset with experience in experimental design, statistics, data analysis and independent troubleshooting.
• Experience in a biotechnology, pharmaceutical or R&D environment, preferably with quality‑focused laboratory practices.
