Temporary Financial Controller (1-year contract)

About the role

This 1‑year temporary position combines accounting, financial control and business partnering within Santander's Bank division in Norway. You will work on IFRS assessments, financial instruments, and contribute to robust financial reporting while exploring automation and AI opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to accounting assessments, documentation and controls across IFRS and financial control topics.
• Perform month‑end activities, account reconciliations and accounting monitoring.
• Support funding activities, hedge accounting, derivatives and related assessments.
• Assist in quality assurance of annual, monthly and quarterly reporting.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand accounting and control implications of new products and processes.
• Improve processes through standardisation, data quality, automation and AI‑supported tools.

Required profile

• Structured, analytical and collaborative with strong ownership.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
• Motivated by varied accounting questions, continuous learning and visible contribution.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Good understanding of accounting and IFRS (or strong motivation to deepen expertise).
• Experience or interest in automation, AI‑supported tools and process improvement.
