Data Scientist – Subscription Data Enablement

About the role

Schibsted's data and analytics team for its subscription business in Norway and Sweden is looking for a Data Scientist to make its dynamic paywall and offer engine smarter. The team works with brands such as VG, Aftenposten, Aftonbladet, Svenska Dagbladet, Bergens Tidende and E24, and covers churn, renewal, segmentation and engagement. The role sits between direct reader relationships and digital profitability, and is based in Oslo, Bergen or Stockholm in a hybrid setup.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and improve the models behind the dynamic paywall and offers, covering propensity, recommender and offer optimisation
• Design, run and analyse experiments with the brands, reporting results honestly, including what they do not prove; uplift modelling and causal inference are welcome
• Take models from notebook to production with data scientists and engineers: feature engineering, training, evaluation, testing and monitoring, using tools such as Snowflake, MLflow and Streamlit
• Explain findings to commercial colleagues with clear analysis and dashboards
• Share ideas on modelling, tooling and MLOps as more brands join, including how AI can make the team's work easier

Required profile

• Hands-on experience developing and evaluating machine learning models, and an understanding of what it takes to run them in production
• A solid foundation in statistics and experimentation, including hypothesis testing and A/B tests
• Ability to explain your work to people who do not speak ML, and curiosity to learn from people who know the business better
• Working language: English

Required skills

• Python or R and SQL for data analysis and modelling
• Understanding of machine learning models and their production deployment
