Mechanical Commissioning Lead - Data Center Project

About the role

A major data center project in Stavanger, Norway, is looking for an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Lead to work on behalf of the General Contractor. This is a long-term opportunity of at least 18 months, with a preferred rotation of 17 days on and 5 days off (a 10/4 pattern may also be considered). The role suits a mechanically qualified, hands-on and site-based commissioning professional.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage mechanical commissioning from L1 through L5, staying hands-on and site-based.
• Drive commissioning activities and support the wider project team while keeping programme delivery in focus.
• Chase and coordinate vendor documentation and commissioning deliverables.
• Coordinate with the GC, subcontractors, specialist vendors, engineering teams and client representatives.
• Review mechanical systems and equipment for commissioning readiness.
• Carry out and oversee hands-on testing, verification and functional performance testing, and support integrated systems testing where needed.
• Identify, troubleshoot and resolve commissioning issues, and manage defects, punch-list items and outstanding activities through close-out.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Commissioning Lead on large-scale data center projects, including at least 18 months on a major data center project.
• Demonstrable experience delivering commissioning through L1-L5, with a site-based approach.
• Experience developing and managing commissioning scripts, tagging trackers and commissioning documentation, and driving tag closure and construction completion.
• Experience coordinating vendor documentation and commissioning deliverables, and leading commissioning meetings.
• Strong understanding of data center commissioning processes and requirements.
• Ability to work under pressure during demanding project periods.
• Right to work in Norway (Norwegian residency, EU/EEA passport or other Norwegian work authorisation); sponsorship is not available.
