General Secretary – 4H Norway

About the role

4H Norway, a nationwide children's and youth organisation with around 10,000 members in about 450 clubs, is looking for a new General Secretary. The General Secretary is the top administrative leader, responsible for 39 employees across the country (13 at the national level and 26 at the county level), and reports to the central board. The position is based in Oslo.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop 4H as an engaging organisation for children and young people, and inspire it to become an attractive place for volunteers and members.
• Prioritise growth, especially increasing membership, and work with the governing bodies and coordinate between the organisation's parts.
• Represent 4H in public debate and promote its interests to partners, other interest organisations, agriculture and relevant authorities.
• Have overall responsibility for finance, funding and operations, ensuring sustainable development.

Required profile

• Experience in voluntary work and understanding of 4H as an organisation.
• Leadership experience, including decentralised leadership, and ability to turn an organisation around towards growth.
• Interest in children's and youth organisations and in positioning 4H.
• Economic sense and understanding of how member organisations are funded.
• Experience with development work and change management; strategic, communicative and solution-oriented leadership.
