Industrial Designer - Livestock Hardware

About the role

Nofence is a Norwegian scale-up that has built the world's first virtual fencing solution for livestock. Its Engineering team is looking for an Industrial Designer to turn early ideas for livestock hardware into production-ready designs, working closely with mechanical and manufacturing engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Generate and visualize design concepts and mechanical solutions for future livestock hardware products, from early ideas to production-ready models.
• Design for manufacturing in cooperation with mechanical and manufacturing engineers.
• Develop the company's industrial design guidelines.
• Contribute to field research on farms and ranches, observing livestock interactions, working conditions and operator workflows.
• Design products that prioritize animal welfare, prevent injury and are ergonomic and intuitive for farmers and agricultural technicians.
• Partner with Product Management and UX design to turn user feedback, field research and competitive insights into feasible physical product concepts.

Required profile

• Bachelor or Master degree in industrial or product design.
• Experience designing electro-mechanical products for volume manufacturing.
• Motivated by working in an autonomous cross-functional team and able to bridge the gap between user needs and design for manufacturing.
• Motivated to facilitate workshops and creative sessions.
• Comfortable working in an English-speaking environment; drivers' licence and ability to travel abroad.

Required skills

• Excellent visualization skills on paper and with physical and digital models.
• Creative problem-solving for complex design solutions.
