About the role

The company is looking for a Chief Engineer (Maskinsjef) to lead the technical operations of the newly built electric ferry MF Norddalsfjord on the Eidsdal‑Linge route. You will be responsible for ensuring the vessel’s machinery and energy systems run safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Act as technical leader, guaranteeing ship equipment complies with class and authority regulations.
• Maintain machinery and components according to the AMOS maintenance system.
• Collaborate with the ship’s captain to follow the safety management system and ISM code.
• Train and supervise crew members under your leadership.
• Handle alarm instructions and update job descriptions in the maintenance system.
• Archive and maintain vessel drawings and technical manuals.
• Monitor daily consumption of fuel oil, lubricating oil and fresh water.
• Keep engine and oil logbooks in line with internal and external requirements.
• Budget, track and order spare parts and equipment within your area of responsibility.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date material catalog and ensure cleaning and fire‑prevention measures are in place.

Required profile

• Independent and solution‑oriented with strong technical insight.
• Responsible, accurate and able to work under pressure.
• Good collaboration skills and a focus on a safe work environment.

Required skills

• M3 certification
• Safety course according to qualification regulations
• Crisis and passenger handling training
• Experience with AMOS maintenance system
• Knowledge of ISM code compliance
