Mechanical Construction Manager

About the role

A leading engineering services company with more than 130 years of history is seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to lead and oversee mechanical construction on high-profile projects in Herøy, Norway. The role covers on-site operations, project timelines, budgets and quality standards, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors. It calls for strong leadership, technical expertise in mechanical systems and a proven record of delivering complex engineering projects safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee mechanical construction from planning through to commissioning, keeping to specifications, timelines and budgets.
• Manage and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams.
• Monitor progress, carry out site inspections and ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental standards.
• Liaise with clients, consultants and stakeholders to share project status and resolve technical or logistical issues.
• Review mechanical drawings and specifications, giving input on constructability and value engineering.
• Maintain project documentation such as progress reports, risk assessments and method statements.
• Support procurement by reviewing technical submittals and coordinating equipment delivery schedules.
• Lead project meetings, update senior management regularly and ensure efficient commissioning and handover meeting contractual and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Mechanical trade or engineering background is essential.
• Experience with materials and jointing methods such as PVC, PVDF, PP, stainless steel, carbon steel, orbital and TIG welding and fusion jointing is an advantage.
• Data centre experience is advantageous but not essential; the employer invites candidates interested in hyper-scale data centres to get in touch.

Required skills

• Excellent communication and organisation skills.
• Excellent IT skills, including MS Office and Excel.
• Knowledge of database systems such as Filemaker is advantageous.
