Mechanical Engineer - Video Collaboration Products

About the role

Cisco Norway's Lysaker innovation centre, just outside Oslo, designs video devices, desktops and digital whiteboards for its collaboration business. The Mechanical Engineering Design team is looking for a creative, structured and collaborative Mechanical Team Member who will work with colleagues in mechanics, electronics, embedded software, hardware test, camera, audio and product teams to develop the next generation of Cisco collaboration video products.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the design development process and the mechanical solutions for collaboration products.
• Work with third-party suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure design intent, manufacturability and quality.
• Take part in mechanical verification, prototype evaluation, issue investigation and design improvements.
• Drive the quality, reliability and robustness of the products.
• Collaborate with colleagues from multiple teams to create sustainable products.
• Bring a structured approach to sustainable design execution, documentation and follow-up, and help develop products aimed at being at the forefront of sustainability.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of related experience, or Master's degree plus 3 years of related experience.
• Experience with mechanical design and product development.
• Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and design for manufacturing/assembly.
• Experience working with external partners such as third-party product developers, suppliers or contract manufacturers.
• Fluent in English.

Required skills

• 3D CAD tools and engineering documentation.
• Preferred: interest in embedded product development and end-to-end hardware creation, and experience taking products from concept through production.
• Preferred: creative problem solving and fault-finding skills, strong cross-team communication, and the ability to balance technical, quality, cost and schedule considerations.
