UX Lead, Schibsted Product Lab
Schibsted · Oslo
Job description
About the role
Schibsted is setting up a Product Lab, a small autonomous unit that builds, launches and tests the next generation of its media products with real users. It is looking for a UX Lead to join the core team. This is a senior, hands-on role where user insight and real-world evidence shape what the Lab builds and invests in, moving fluidly between research, concept development, interaction design, prototyping and experimentation.
Key responsibilities
- Shape how Product Lab does discovery: set a high bar for research and experience design and build lightweight ways of working that turn ideas into evidence quickly.
- Understand changing audiences by combining user research, behavioural signals and market developments to see how needs around news and media are shifting.
- Work with product, technology and editorial colleagues to turn broad questions into clear user problems and testable hypotheses.
- Turn hypotheses into prototypes and experiments, from simple provocations to live product tests.
- Find the assumptions that matter most, test them and bring the evidence into decisions to stop, iterate, pivot or invest; help seeds grow into coherent products.
- Coach and give design and discovery direction to UX designers in temporary seeds and bets, leading through craft and expertise.
- Share learnings from Product Lab initiatives with the wider Schibsted organisation.
Required profile
- An experienced product designer comfortable working before there is a roadmap, requirements or clearly defined problem.
- Combines strong product and interaction design skills with curiosity about people, technology and emerging behaviours.
- Prototypes to learn, not just to communicate, and is comfortable discarding own ideas when evidence points elsewhere.
- Experience working closely with product, technology and other disciplines.
- Confidence to challenge assumptions, including your own, when the evidence points elsewhere.
Required skills
- Exploratory and evaluative user research, including interpreting behavioural evidence.
- Product and interaction design, shown in concepts taken from idea to validation.
- Fast prototyping at the right fidelity, including with AI-assisted tools.
- Ability to synthesise ambiguous information into a clear point of view.
- Experience with AI-enabled products and the media industry is highly valuable.
What we offer
- Join the Lab's first core team and help shape its culture.
- Build on trusted brands, journalism, data and millions of users, with products that work having a path into Aftonbladet, VG, Aftenposten and other brands.
- Room to work and clear decisions, since the Lab works outside current roadmaps and KPIs.
- The chance to help decide how Schibsted answers the changes in media driven by AI.
