Regulatory Compliance Director – HESQ

About the role

Yara International is seeking an experienced regulatory compliance leader to establish and head the HESQ Regulatory Compliance Centre of Excellence. Reporting to the VP of Product Stewardship and Compliance, you will create a global framework that anticipates regulatory change, manages risk and translates complex requirements into practical actions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, develop and continuously improve the global HESQ regulatory compliance framework, governance and ways of working.
• Build an end‑to‑end compliance process covering monitoring, assessment, implementation, verification, reporting and follow‑up.
• Interpret legislation, assess business impact and turn requirements into clear procedures, controls and actions.
• Direct regulatory assessments, audits, inspections and ensure findings are closed effectively.
• Identify and escalate significant risks, gaps and emerging issues with clear management information.
• Coordinate regulatory documentation, submissions, permits, registrations and reports.
• Manage relationships with authorities, industry bodies, suppliers and other external stakeholders.
• Lead and develop the Regulatory Expert team, setting priorities and promoting knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in engineering, regulatory affairs, law, materials science, quality management or related discipline (extensive experience may substitute).
• Strong, proven experience in regulatory compliance and deep understanding of organizational adaptation to regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrated expertise in problem‑solving and project management.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills, able to advise senior leaders.
• Collaborative leadership style with ability to work across teams, cultures and stakeholder groups.
