Senior Counsel, Regulatory & Privacy

About the role

Mastercard is looking for an experienced Senior Counsel to advise its Payment Services operations in Norway. The role supports the Norwegian Interbank Clearing System and other critical payment infrastructure, ensuring regulatory compliance while enabling innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal and regulatory advice on privacy, data protection, data governance, data sovereignty, AI and emerging technology regulation.
• Act as trusted advisor on regulatory developments affecting payment systems, financial services, technology infrastructure and operational resilience.
• Support commercial and product teams with regulatory and privacy guidance for contracts, launches and customer engagements.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, risk, privacy, technology and security functions across Norway, Denmark and the wider organisation.
• Manage external counsel and contribute to the development of Mastercard’s global Regulatory & Privacy function.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with the right to practise in Norway or comparable qualification.
• Post‑qualification experience in a leading law firm or in‑house legal department.
• Fluent in Norwegian and English, both written and spoken.
• Familiarity with privacy and data‑protection frameworks.
