Senior Limnologist – Water Environment

About the role

Norconsult is looking for an engaged and skilled limnologist to strengthen its expertise in the Nature Diversity department, within the Aquatic Ecology group of nearly 20 people. The work covers mapping, studies and measures in water environment, with clients such as energy companies, transport operators, municipalities, the state and developers. The position is based in Sandvika or Larvik.

Key responsibilities

• Provide environmental advice and lead small and large multidisciplinary projects
• Advise on water environment throughout construction projects and follow up with external parties and customers
• Carry out water quality and biota monitoring, including bottom fauna, aquatic plants, phytoplankton and physicochemical parameters
• Assess cases against the Water Resources Act, the Water Act and other regulations, and help draft offers with budget and schedule
• Follow up subcontractors, laboratories and field staff, and write assessments for authorities and interest groups

Required profile

• Masters degree in limnology, freshwater ecology, water management or similar, or equivalent experience
• More than five years of relevant experience
• Knowledge of river and lake limnology, impact studies, action plans and monitoring programmes
• Ability to work independently and in cross-disciplinary teams; good written and spoken Norwegian
• Driving licence is desirable; applicants are welcome regardless of residence

Required skills

• Limnological sampling methods (water, algae, bottom fauna, plankton)
• GIS knowledge and knowledge of Vann-nett and Vannmiljø
• Reservoir assessment and dilution/dispersion calculations
