Data Scientist – Energy, Public Sector, Finance and Health Projects

About the role

Sopra Steria in Stavanger is looking for a Data Scientist to join its Data Intelligence division, which brings together expertise in data, analysis and artificial intelligence across the value chain from data platforms and integration to insights, machine learning and operationalisation. You will work on demanding customer projects in energy, public sector, finance and health, with AI as a natural part of your workflow.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to customer projects from business understanding and exploration to models and solutions in production
• Analyse data, visualise results and provide decision support
• Build machine learning and AI solutions, including language models and agents where they add value
• Work with data engineers and architects on cloud-based data platforms
• Communicate insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required profile

• Already delivering independently in customer projects, able to take responsibility for quality from day one
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a data scientist or analytics consultant
• Experience sharing insights with technical and non-technical audiences
• Background in consulting or similar client dialogue and project delivery
• Good Norwegian (at least B2) and good English, higher education

Required skills

• Solid Python and SQL in data projects
• Statistics, analysis and visualisation
• Advantage: machine learning and generative AI in customer solutions
• Advantage: Microsoft Fabric, Databricks or similar platforms
• Advantage: cloud (Azure, AWS or GCP) and model operationalisation
