Hydro Power Plant Manager – Ustekveikja Energi

About the role

Ustekveikja Energi Holding AS operates and runs three hydro power plants in the Geilo area, owned wholly or partly by Hol municipality. The company is looking for an engaged, forward-looking power plant manager to lead its production department. The position reports to the managing director and combines operational work close to daily operations and staff with strategic development of the plants and organisation. It also involves emergency duty and on-call work.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the production department and develop employees and the professional community
• Oversee management, operation and maintenance of the power plants
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, concession conditions and health, safety and environment rules
• Hold budget and results responsibility for the production department
• Plan and follow up operation and maintenance
• Contribute to and lead development and investment projects
• Follow up suppliers, contractors and partners
• Contribute to strategy and identify new opportunities with the managing director
• Handle contact with public authorities and other stakeholders

Required profile

• Higher education in energy, electricity, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent; extensive experience can compensate for formal education
• Leadership experience in the energy industry or another technical business
• Experience with budgets, financial control and project management
• Good understanding of health, safety and quality work
• Good spoken and written Norwegian
• Experience in hydropower production is an advantage

Required skills

• Technical understanding and experience operating and maintaining technical installations
• Structured, long-term thinking with decisive action when needed
