Maritime Analyst - Gas Markets

About the role

Veson Nautical is looking for a Maritime Analyst specialising in the gas sector, based in Oslo. You will provide market intelligence, fleet analysis and operational insights for the global LPG and LNG shipping sector, supporting commercial, operational and strategic decisions for banks, finance companies and ship owners. The role involves analysing vessel fleets, trade flows, freight rates and chartering activity, and producing reports, forecasts and scenario modelling.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor global LPG and LNG shipping markets, including fleet capacity, vessel deployment and trade patterns
• Analyse trends in regional LPG and LNG trades and track supply-demand dynamics, freight rates and chartering activity
• Conduct comparative market analyses and benchmarking to support valuation conclusions
• Monitor fleet availability, newbuilding deliveries, scrapping activity and charter contracts
• Gather, clean and maintain the company's proprietary database, and maintain modelling systems
• Provide day-to-day analytical support to Sales and Account Management, and respond to client queries on methodology and data
• Support client decision-making with scenario modelling, risk mitigation and insight into the financial implications of vessel investments
• Keep abreast of international regulations such as IMO emissions standards and environmental compliance
• Prepare reports, dashboards and presentations, and generate content for the Press team

Required profile

• Degree in Maritime Studies, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Economics, Data Analytics or a related field
• 2-4 years of experience in LPG/LNG shipping, energy shipping markets, maritime analytics or shipping finance
• Strong knowledge of LPG/LNG vessel operations, fleet management and global trade flows
• Fluent in Norwegian and English; additional languages are an asset
• Ability to travel up to 20%
