Firmware Design Summer Internship

About the role

Sony Europe is looking for a Firmware Design Intern in Lysaker, Norway, to join an international team designing advanced CMOS image sensors. The internship runs during Summer 2027 and involves embedded firmware design, development and verification for ASIC devices, with low-level C programming for ARM CPUs.

Key responsibilities

• Design firmware for CMOS image sensors used in ADAS systems
• Develop and verify hard real-time firmware on CMOS sensors
• Work on timing and control signals for pixel array readout, amplifiers and ADCs, signal processing blocks, I/O interfaces and low-noise power supplies
• Define and document specifications and develop RTL and firmware to control the sensor and process video data
• Collaborate with the Firmware Team and with teams in Japan, Europe, analog design, PI, product engineering and functional safety
• Support internal and external stakeholders

Required profile

• Ongoing study of a degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer/Software Engineering
• Technical, electronics or software academic background
• Fluent English
• Legal working permit in Norway
