General Secretary – Mushroom and Edible Fungi Association

About the role

Norges sopp- og nyttevekstforbund (NSNF), a federation of 45 local member associations with about 8,500 members, is looking for an engaged leader with experience from voluntary organisations and a clear interest in nature. The General Secretary works closely with a competent administration including the finance and administration manager, professional staff and project staff, and reports to the board elected at the annual meeting. The position has a large scope of action, requires normal presence at the central office in Oslo, and is advertised through Skagerak Consulting.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the overall operation and strategic development of the organisation
• Own the budget and results of the association's finances, including long-term financing
• Handle personnel matters for the administration
• Act as secretary to the board, prepare agenda items and run board meetings
• Support local association boards with training and organisational knowledge
• Be mainly responsible for the annual general assembly and the annual meeting
• Take part in external networks such as Norsk Friluftsliv and Sabima

Required profile

• Leadership experience with responsibility for people
• Experience from the voluntary sector and organisational life
• Ability to focus holistically on daily operations, annual planning and strategy
• Economic understanding, experience with funding work and grants
• Project competence, including case handling
• Nature interest and good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
