Offshore Rig Floorhand

About the role

Noblecorp is hiring a Floorhand to work under the direction of the Driller and support ongoing rig operations. The role covers operating rig floor equipment, keeping the floor clean, assisting other personnel and carrying out general housekeeping and material preservation duties.

Key responsibilities

• Perform safely and efficiently all duties assigned by the Driller during drilling, work-over and completion operations.
• Keep the drill floor clean and equipment in its proper place, and assist casing, cementing, logging and directional crews on downhole operations.
• During tripping, act as tong operator, pipe tailer/stabber, back-up tong operator, pull and set slips, make up and break out tool joints and replace tong dies.
• Check and replace snub and break-out lines, inspect spinning wrench, grease as required, check the air lubricator's oil, inspect chains, hanging line, counterweight assembly and snub line.
• Check mud viscosity and mud weight at the shale shaker, work in the pontoon area to transfer fluids and communicate with the Driller, Ballast Control Operator and Barge Engineer.
• Maintain the rig: keep the floor clear of tools after each trip, wash down BOPs, keep the shale shaker and de-sander clean, lubricate drawworks and rotary, and become familiar with blowout and shut-in procedures.
• Inspect the drill string for wash-outs, excessive wear and damaged joints or threads, and help with chipping, scraping, painting, scrubbing and cleaning.
• Relieve the Derrickman as assigned, and assist in keeping the deck free of unnecessary tools and equipment.
• Follow Noble's safety policies, attend daily pre-tour and weekly safety meetings, run Job Safety Analyses and hazard assessments, and take the initiative on emergency duties.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6+ months of experience working offshore.
• Completion of all training requirements for the position within the designated time period.
• VG2 Drill & Well Technology and a skilled trade position.
