Section Head – International Coordination and Non-Proliferation

About the role

DSA, the Norwegian authority on nuclear safety, is looking for a section head for its newly created section on international coordination and non-proliferation. The section represents DSA's board role before the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on international nuclear safety, disarmament, non-proliferation and export control, and coordinates DSA's work at forums such as the IAEA and OECD NEA. The position is based in Østerås, Bærum.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the section, set goals and strategic direction, and be responsible for budget, personnel and follow-up of staff
• Coordinate DSA's international work and follow up the international strategy
• Plan and deliver the section's annual targets and contribute to DSA's overall goals
• Act as a strategic advisor and partner to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and represent DSA before other countries' authorities and international organisations
• Take part in DSA's nuclear readiness work and handle unexpected incidents
• Work closely with other departments and communicate complex issues clearly to different audiences

Required profile

• Master's degree or equivalent in a field relevant to the section's tasks
• Relevant management experience combined with good knowledge of public administration at departmental or board level
• Experience of international cooperation at government level
• Ability to obtain and maintain top-secret security clearance; candidates will be asked about their suitability and links to high-risk countries
• Good written and spoken Norwegian and English

Required skills

• Knowledge of international nuclear safety, disarmament, non-proliferation or export control
• Advantageous: experience with international conventions, reporting or strategic work, and knowledge of radiological protection

• Salary of NOK 1,000,000–1,100,000 per year depending on qualifications, with a six-month probation period
